ASAT-04 Electric Fence
Sensor-Alarm-Monitor
(Dual Output)

OPERATIONAL PARAMETERS:
-
Input Power Requirements: 12 to 24 volts DC
(nominal 12 volt battery preferred)
-
Power Usage: The input power required is 0.25
watts
-
High Voltage Input Pulse: will read a 200 volt
pulse to a 20,000 volt pulse.
-
Pulse Width Accepted: 50 microseconds to 10 milliseconds
-
Pulse Period Accepted: 5 hertz to 0.5 hertz (5
pulses/sec to 2 seconds between pulses
-
Maintenance Output: Contact closure rated 0.5 amps
@ 30 volts (This is sufficient for most piezo sounders)
-
Maintenance voltage
level or Low Voltage Level is adjustable and is variable from 1kv to
8kv input
-
Voltage Loss Output: Contact closure rated 0.5
amps @ 30 volts (most sirens and loud alarms will require a power
contactor/relay) This contact closure operates when the pulse voltage drops
below 0.2kv (200 volts)
OPERATION:
This high voltage sensor takes an electric fence charger pulse and
analyzes it for peak voltage, pulse width and period. The RG7781 can accurately
measure voltage pulses from almost any fence charger or pulse source, including
the spark voltage on a gasoline engine.
The design algorithm used in this
device was determined for stability, longevity, and reliability under a wide set
of usage parameters. (patents applied and pending )
The green light will flash for every
pulse that is higher than the "maintenance voltage" or "low
voltage" level. The maintenance
threshold voltage is set at 6kv at the factory.
This maintenance voltage is
adjustable from 1.5kv to 8kv. If flora (grass, bushes, limbs, and leaves)
partially load or partially short out the high voltage and reduces the effective pulse voltage to
below the adjustable maintenance level voltage point, then the yellow LED will light
and the maintenance contacts will close (after a time delay). The
maintenance function has an approximate 90 second delay to avoid false alarms.
If the grass or weeds are blown off or removed and the charger pulse voltage is
restored, then the maintenance alarm will reset itself and the maintenance
contacts will open. The RG7781-m model has an adjustable maintenance
delay of 5 to 90 seconds.
When the pulse voltage drops or
becomes less than 200 volts, the "no voltage" contacts will close. There is a
built-in delay of 5 seconds before the red LED will light and the alarm contact
close to eliminate "false alarms". The algorithm used in this circuit
also eliminates false alarms from reverse
pulses that may occur from close proximity lightening strikes. If the voltage
drop is intermittent the circuit will reset itself. (For some security
applications, a latching relay contact may be desired on some output
relays.) The RG7781-a model has an adjustable alarm delay of 5 to 90
seconds.
This device is designed for long
life with ease and consistency of operation and all units have a one (1) year
warranty including lightening damage.
The most reliable operation of
this electric fence monitor-sensor-alarm is with using a separate
earth ground rod (located at least 5 metes from other ground rods). This
connection to a separate earth ground rod will allow the monitor companion
to measure "earth voltage" or "grounding" of the fencing
system. This will still accurately measure the "fence voltage" A
good ground with multiple grounding rods, interconnected, and driven at
least 2 meters into the ground (deeper is better) is critical to the proper
operation of the fence.
Product features:
-
Directly connects to any electric fence
by the high
voltage
input connections.

Shows "hot and
normal" working fence with
Green Pulse LED.
-
Shows when maintenance is
required with Yellow "Low Voltage" LED.
-
"Maintenance
Required" feature by
triggering the "maintenance alarm" relay.
-
"No Voltage" Shows failing fence with
Red "No Voltage" LED with separate alarm contacts.
-
Provides
alarms contacts for BOTH "low voltage" and "no voltage".
Adjustments
-
Low Fence Voltage alarm
set point "maintenance required" precise voltage adjustment and
setting using the table in the enclosed instructions.
-
Adjustable delay from
"Low
Fence Voltage" to sounding
"maintenance alarm"
(model RG-7781-m only). Standard model is approximately 90 second delay.
-
Adjustable delay from
"No Fence Voltage" to sounding "no voltage
